Our Classes
We have several different groups, which are based on age and/or Bulgarian language level. The language level is determined by an appropriate test.
Group 'Pooh The Bear' - 2-3 years old
In group "Pooh The Bear" learning process is performed based on the first part of program system of publisher "Bulvest 2000". It is called "A tiny fairy trail". Here we refer to subjects well-selected and formulated in the way to best keep the interest of little kids up to 3 years old (nursery school) in specific areas and objects from the real world which are close and simple to their daily experience. They are detailed and complex and the whole education content of all education aspects has been integrated in them. The kids are going to learn Bulgarian language through listening, observation, getting to know different objects in the surrounding world. There are few different methods to get and introduce the information depending on the child age:
- Display method to acquire important visual information - demonstration, observation and consideration.
- Verbal method to get and exchange important verbal information - usage of language: name objects, short stories, describe objects, explanation, conversation, telling and reading appropriate literature.
- Practical method - use child's own experience, rationalize it and transform it into another skill - investigation, participation in group occupation, object games, musical and movement games, circle games, songs, basic tests, experiment, design, art and technical projects, etc.
- Playing method
No matter which method is used, most important is a positive relationship between classmates and professional teacher's attitude to build a good vocabulary in students.
Group 'Star' - 3-4 years old - First group PreK
In group "Star" teachers work follows the program system of publisher "Bulvest 2000", named "Fairy trails". The system is a complex of materials appropriate for children in first group of preschool. Children will work with their own work sheets. Used methods are: conversation, reading a story, re-telling a story, investigating a toy, naming, repeating, objects, listening to a song, singing a song, puppet show, music and movement games. The whole speech development is integrated using playing culture of the students and their musical progress. In the group an attention is paid to prepare kids to differentiate a real concept of objects, colors, daily aspects, songs, dances, thinking stimulation games. Such lessons help kids grow and mature up to the stage when ready for the next group.
Group 'Moon' - 4-5 years old - Second group PreK
In group "Moon" students continue their education in the 2nd group of preschool following the program Bulvest 2000. Main tasks are: learning poems an rhymes, developing children speech, learning story tails, making sentences, maintaining a conversation, correct sounds pronunciation, distinguishing story tails characters, developing listening interest, writing a letter, distinguishing a story by pictures provided, retelling stories, determine students' achievement. Leading goals are developing childrens' connected speech, creating models for participation in dialogue; perceiving a literary work, recreating a tale through retelling. Expected results - the student participates in a dialogue - includes etiquette expressions for communication; listens and perceives a literary work, enters a role and improvises lines and actions; describes objects and phenomena.
Group 'PreK' - 5-6 years old - Third group PreK
In group "PreK" students continue their education in the 3rd group of preschool following the program Bulvest 2000 and work with a program called 'Hello school'. Main tasks are: learning poems an rhymes, developing children speech, learning story tails, making sentences, maintaining a conversation, correct sounds pronunciation, distinguishing story tails characters, developing listening interest, writing a letter, distinguishing a story by pictures provided, retelling stories, determine students' achievement. The goals of the system are social preparation for school - creating an attitude and expectation of the children to go to school, cognitive preparation - forming a positive attitude of the children towards learning and special preparation for school - mastering the literary form of the language and ensuring a lexical reserve.
Group 'Sun' "Preschool, 4th group" - 6-7 years old
In 4th, Preschool group 'Sun' students work with the program called "Hello School" - educating and teaching students in fourth group of preschool. It is a natural continuation of "Fairy trails" and a complete part of the educational product. Using a variety of activities and methods, demonstrations and visualizations and playing different games the students are conducted to a new level of education, based on the experience and learning activity and stimulating the initiative to reach their goal. The class is a preparatory stage for writing and reading, Roden Krai (Homeland). Working with a textbook and other studying materials. Writing elements of letters, learning different concepts about Homeland, Traditions and Holidays. In the group, we lay the initial foundations of knowledge that are mandatory in Bulgarian schools. Learning songs and poems, as well as getting to know the most famous Bulgarian stories. The various projects placed in the classes will make the children feel the Bulgarian self-awareness.
First grade - 7 years old
Group 1st Grade prepares children for reading and writing in Bulgarian Language and Homeland. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write letters' elements and learn about National home, traditions and holidays. We set up the base of knowledge binding on schools in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian short stories. The students will do all different projects at school and at home as homework which will make them feel Bulgarian awareness and self-preservation. The expected results of language learning are related to knowledge, skills and attitudes in the field of different parts of the language - phonetics, syntax and lexicology, with an emphasis on sounds (vowels and consonants) and letters (uppercase and lowercase, printed and handwritten) in the Bulgarian literary language, the types of sentences for the purpose of communication (informative and interrogative), the sound composition and the lexical meaning of a word. The expected results of literature education are aimed at reading, perceiving and understanding works of various genres of literature and folklore for children (fairy tale, story, poem, riddle), types of speech (poetic and non-poetic), orientation skills in the layout of the book (covers, pages, illustrations).
2nd grade
In second grade we teach students Bulgarian Language. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian short stories appropriate for their age. In second grade we accentuate the following: text, caption, sentence, words, sound composition, alphabet, syllable, stress, spelling and pronunciation, types of consonants, noun-number, byword, adjective, verbs. We do two tests in every term. We pay attention to the following themes: life in school, seasons, Holidays and entertainment, Bulgarian History, at home, street traffic, human body, senses and body organs, our food, calendar, winter Holidays, my homeland, vehicles, occupation, people's life, animals. Parents are going to get monthly emails with current themes. We expect support! Please discuss the themes with your child in advance and prepare different materials or stories for a greater success.
3rd grade
In third grade we teach students Bulgarian Language. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian short stories appropriate for their age. In this class, students' skills to speak and read correctly and expressively, to write competently and legibly are improved. The knowledge of the parts of speech, the types of morphemes, sentences and some legal, spelling, punctuation and grammatical norms is mastered and deepened. Language training covers sound composition, word structure and meaning, parts of speech, types of sentences. Literary studies cover literary and folklore texts, artistic texts and reading culture.
4th grade
In forth grade we teach students Bulgarian Language. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian short stories appropriate for their age. Students work independently, gradually building up and expanding the volume of knowledge and skills for speaking and writing in Bulgarian, reading and listening comprehension. New topics covered in the course 1st to 4th grade are complex words, parts of speech, tenses of the verb, types of sentences by composition, composing and editing a text.
5th grade
In fifth grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age.
6th grade
In sixth grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age. The children enrich their knowledge of the Bulgarian language and improve their skills in using it.
7th grade
In seventh grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age. The students master Bulgarian language as easily as possible with an emphasis on its practical application in various communicative speech situations. The educational set is supplemented with materials from publisher "Klet" and provides an excellent opportunity to achieve the expected results laid down in the educational system. Emphasis is placed on text such as mass communication, fiction, and word sound changes. Students prepare for B1 level test to obtain a Certificate of Biliteracy.
8th grade
In eighth grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age. Preparation for the bilingual exam at the University of Sofia is offered, grammar is studied and students learn about the specifics of the exam.
9th grade
In ninth grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age. We actively study grammar and reinforce knowledge from 5th to 8th grade. We emphasize the importance of acquiring new information and understanding an existing concept. Dialogue and monologue are conducted, language vocabulary is enriched. Intensive preparation for level B2 of the test at Sofia University to obtain a Certificate of Biliteracy.
10th grade
In tenth grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age. Review grammar. Conduct different types of dialogue. Active participation in campaigns related to the school. Intensive preparation for level B2 of the test at Sofia University to obtain a Certificate of Biliteracy, sample tests for certification:
- Speaking: interview; situational dialogue; description, comparison, comment on given stimulus; reasoning, argumentation, narrative on a topic
- Listening with understanding
- Reading comprehension
- Writing, acquiring excellent skills to use a phonetic keyboard, using the Cyrillic alphabet system.
11th grade
In eleventh grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Literary works are studied. Students learn songs and poems and rhymes by heart, they get to know famous Bulgarian stories appropriate for their age. Test lessons and preparation for level C1 for the Seal of Biliteracy exam. Support for better fluency and greater activity in oral communication in everyday life. Participation in extracurricular campaigns related to the popularization of the school and Bulgarian traditions.
12th grade
In 12th grade we teach students Bulgarian Language Arts, History and Geography. Work with textbooks and reference books. We write and read. We follow adaptive learning program for students abroad approved by the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria. Literary works are studied. Bulgarian as a second language - program!
Bulgarian as a Seocond Language (BSL) is a program, specifically designed for students who are not exposed to the language at home and who do not speak the language or speak a little bit. The goal of this class is to teach children to conversational Bulgarian by expanding their vocabulary, simple talking and illustrating words. It is offered as a separate program or as an additional course for the students who are already on the regular curriculum.
